Welcome!
My name is Marike Doedens and I am an self taught artist and creator based in Oslo.
My biggest passion is creating colorful things and I do this in a wide range of materials. I paint, sew, draw, dye fabrics and sometimes decorate whole festivals with bright colors.
I was born in a tiny town in the north of the Netherlands, and moved to Sweden when I was 17. In Sweden I studied textiles, and have about 8 years of textile education. I have always been obsessed with experimenting and creating things. but my textile education has given me the right tools and knowledge in how to use textiles in the best way possible.
About 6 years ago, just before moving to Oslo, I got drawn into making mandalas. Since a young age I have been drawing, but this new found passion for mandalas made me discover a new, more meditative way of drawing. A way that is less about planning and thinking and more focussed of the flow of the movement.
Currently I am mostly working on drawing mandalas with markers on paper, and creating strong and durable travel pouches with self-designed and bought materials.
